Summary:
Jules lives with her family above their restaurant, which means she smells like pizza most of the time and drives their double-meatball-shaped food truck to school. It’s not a recipe for popularity, but she can handle that.
What she can’t handle is the recurring vision that haunts her. Over and over, Jules sees a careening truck hit a building and explode...and nine body bags in the snow.
The vision is everywhere—on billboards, television screens, windows—and she’s the only one who sees it. And the more she sees it, the more she sees. The vision is giving her clues, and soon Jules knows what she has to do. Because now she can see the face in one of the body bags, and it’s someone she knows. Someone she has been in love with for as long as she can remember.
Review:
Jules Demarco is a normal teenager. She's snarky, spunky, and hilarious. In fact, her life sucks. She drives a truck with balls on the top. Meatballs, that is. But, you get the drift. Her father...has issues. He's a hoarder. A neat, organized hoarder. Jules family runs an Italian family business that's in rivalry with another Italian family business. But, to top off the suckish part of Jules life? She keeps seeing this vision.
A vision of a crash.
A crash whereever she looks, she keeps seeing it, no matter what she does. it won't go away, until she finally does something about it.
Oh, did I forget that she has a crush on her family's rival even though they were totally BFF's one time in their lives? Yep, that's not working out very well either.
Lisa McMann creates a very good story of this book. Crash was like a mystery romance type of YA book. And throughout the story, every time Jules freaks about with this one vision, I was freaking out with her. Especially when she saw---Nah, I'm not going to spoil that good part for you, even though some of you might saw it coming before Jules figured it out.
I loved this book so much, when it ended, I was literally screaming "It's over?! No! No, no, no, no, nooo!! It can't be over!" I was that upset because at the end, it was very good twist and I just stared at the book like, "WHAT?!"
This book is amazing.
What I like:
*Everything. Period.
* Jules: She's snarky, spunky, sarcastic, and laugh out loud funny. Even with this vision she has, she's a fairly good protagonist that I can relate to. Not only this, but she's in love with her BFF, Sawyer, who is also her family's rival.
* Sawyer: The boy of Jule's childhood, and crush, maybe lover. Sawyer's like the popular boy, the one that everyone likes. I think Sawyer is a cool guy, but, he has a reason why he's been treating Jules the way he does. (Unlike some YA boys who treats the protag with such unncessary jerkiness, it's soo unattractive) but with Sawyer, trust me, he HAS a reason why he's been treating Jules like moldy cheese. Trust. Me. It's in the book.
* Trey: Jules older brother and gay. He also has a little thing for Sawyer even though Trey is 18 and Sawyer's like, 16. Trey is just as sarcastic and funny as Jules is. This makes me envious because I want Trey as a brother. Hey, Jules? Want to sibling switch?
*The vision: The Crash. That's just it. It's just one vision. A vehicle crashing into a building, going up in flames. 9 people dead. What Jules going to do?
I enjoyed how the visions kept coming back to haunt Jules, taunting her endlessly till she got up and took action. Which she eventually does near the end of the book.
*Everything. Again.
What I didn't like:*Jule's family's rivalry with the the Angotti's.
-I understans WHY, but truthfully, when I learned the backstory of why the rivarly happened. I was rooting for Jules to tell her father and mother off to say to hell with the rivalry with the Angotti's because of her love for Sawyer. But, nope. It didn't happen because in other YA novels, it would ususally happen, the parents will see their errors and then come to their senses and apologize. That didn't happen in this story, which I am also OK for, since in the next book, I think the Italian rivals will get over their stupid arguement and make peace!
What I didn't like:
*The ending
-Total cliffhanger. Cliffhangers mean sequels. And sequels turn out to take forever to come out. Luckily, we don't have to wait till 9 more months left. Still far away!
Conclusion:
While I had never read Lisa McMann's Wake Series and her other previous novels, this is my first. And I love it. I read this book in 4 hours. I'm an avid reader, but for everyone, it's a fairly quick read.
Fans of McMann's work will definitely love Crash. Because, it's amazing, and good and...amazing!
This book has mystery, suspense, drama, romance, humor. All good things. This book will not disappoint (well, for some people it would) but I would defintely recommend this book! I'm gonna say it again, amazing book.
Bang (Visions #2) will be coming out October 8, 2013. Isn't this cover fantasically amazing?
5/5!
